FireEscape 3D
Motivation & Technical Details
To raise fire-safety awareness among students, I programmed an educational video game, FireEscape 3D, using the Unity game development engine.
I made use of modified maze generation algorithms to randomly generate a new environment for each level. Players are placed in an office space with desks, workstations and whiteboards. Fires and fire-extinguishers have also been randomly placed in rooms. Consequently, some rooms are smoke filled. Avoiding these rooms and extinguishing any fires, players must make their way to the emergency exit to clear the level.
Apart from writing C# programs and working on game mechanics, I spent a lot of effort in MagicaVoxel while designing 3D models. I wanted the game to have a pixel aesthetic, so I decided on voxel art.
I am currently working with FSAI to use this game in fire-safety training programs in schools.
